Community Integration Evening
2008-07-19
Community Integration Evening was introduced on the 10 th of July 2008 in the Polish Pub and Restaurant "Gospoda" in Reading. The idea was born in june although we had thought about preparing a similar event in the past. Now we have had an opportunity to do this because the manager of Gospoda was very open to new initiatives and he offered to us the organization and hosting of the event at his pub.
As an internet portal we are trying to help people providing reliable and important information but apart from the cooperation with the police and other organizations and institutions we felt we needed to make contact with other trustworthy organizations.
Together with Gospoda we created the Community Integration Evening whose general aim was to introduce and integrate communities, organizations and institutions in Berkshire . We tried to create possibilities for organizing a network of people who want to help each other based on their experience, communication, advice and information. It was also good moment to say something about our community and Polish culture.
The Manager of "Gospoda" prepared traditional Polish snack-buffet, electronic equipment, and great space for the event. We invited guests, prepared a program and presentation about Polish culture, Poles in Berkshire our cooperation with others and our aim as a internet portal.
Invited guests could listen to wide range of music presented by Adam Tymczymyszyn who amazed people with his skills playing electric guitar. The leaders of the event were Andrzej Ostapko and Mariusz Rapa.
After greetings and an introduction of the program Mariusz showed a presentation which was displayed on plasma TVs in the pub.
Representatives of organizations were then invited to say a few words about themselves and their role in the community, about what they do, how they cooperate and what they expect from the others.
Amongst our guests were:
1.Thames Valley Police
2. Sywia Skoczylas from A4E
3. Reading Evening Post
4. Irene Cameron - Voluntary Sector Support Manager
5. Kiar Greyfaulk - Street Warden Manager
6. Eleonor and Lucy - Children Information Centre

10. Daisy Brett-Holt from Berkshire Filipino Associacion and Success University.
11. Balbir Chagger from Business Link
12. Ewa H. Wruszczak and Zenon Rakowicz from the Polish Club Reading
13. Reading Chronicles
There was also a large group of people who just came to the pub as usual so they could also actively participate in our meeting like members of the former Polish Club In Reading.
The Community Integration Evening was a great experience and resulted in positive outcomes like propositions for future projects between organizations and possible new events.
We would like to thank everyone who trusted us and committed their precious time to attend the meeting.
